AKP not clear on Ankara mayor

Responding to questions by the press Tuesday, Erdoğan said Ankara was of great importance to the AKP and evaluations were continuing over the last decision about Ankara’s mayoral contender.

As to whether the AKP was in a deadlock over identifying the candidate for the capital, Erdoğan said in the run up to the local elections they had said they would regularly announce candidates as results of assessments made within the AKP and results of public polls were concluded and so far they had announced candidates for five cities.

"Evaluations in this respect continue. After these assessments and if poll results reach us by the end of this week, we will definitely announce our Ankara contender."
