Snow tires would be required for all municipal vehicles including Istanbul buses in case of emergency, according to the commission, which also advises citizens to use snow tires on their cars for safe and secure traffic.

Consolidating vehicles from the municipality
AKOM, which will be in charge of all the coordination for the city, will get support from the municipality if necessary. Depending on how much rain or snow there is, employees and vehicles will be consolidated by the municipality. The contractor firms, which cooperate with the metropolitan municipality, will also provide support if needed.

Six of them, which will be cleaning, drying and spreading salt, will be on duty on the highways.

The snowplows were supplied one year ago. They can reach a speed of 80 kilometers per hour and can spread salt on a 40-kilometer area in one go. The vehicle, which can strafe sideways like a crab, is capable of clearing 5-meter-wide through the snow.

The plows will start from the European side of Istanbul and clear the bridges, bridge tolls, Mahmutbey, İstoç, Vatan Avenue, Hadımköy, Büyükçekmece and Mimarsinan highway curves bridge and Fenerbahçe Stadium.

AKOM divided Istanbul into nine regions for better coordination of the city and to work efficiently. The road maintenance teams will cover 4,613 kilometers with 3,557 people will work within the plan.

AKOM will also keep track of the vehicles with a special system. In case of emergency the vehicles will be sent to the necessary points.

The teams will clear the way to the villages around Istanbul with tractors supplied by the municipality.

Besides the vehicles that will be working for people not to suffer, there will also be 75 lifts, 4,640 firefighters, 29 ambulances and 80 doctors to take part in case of emergency.

The municipality placed automatic meteorology observation sensors at 25 points around the city to direct the teams to correct locations around the city. Aiming to take action on the right time, the weather conditions will be followed by AKOM.
