ANKARA - Recent rainfall has increased the water levels in Ankara’s dams. Rain during September, October and November has already surpassed all the rainfall from the last five years over dam basins in Ankara.

2009 is expected to be rainy, according to information from the State Meteorology Institution.

Almost 3 million cubic meters of rainwater fell on dams in Ankara last Sunday and Monday, while the amount of useable water exceeded 60 million cubic meters.

Two-thirds of Ankara’s water need is provided by the Kızılırmak River, officials stated.
