Turkish General Staff to brief Council of Ministers on terror fight

The Council of Ministers will convene under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan on Monday.

The General Staff earlier announced that the army chief, Gen. Ilker Basbug, had proposed to hold a briefing during the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers.

 

Basbug will be the first Chief of General Staff to ever attend a cabinet meeting.

 

Turkey, provided with intelligence by the United States, has stepped up its campaign to crackdown on the PKK both inside Turkey and in northern Iraq, after the terror organization increased its attacks on Turkish soldiers, as well as civilians.
