The first Israeli-made Heron unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will join the Turkish military until the end of November, Turkish defense minister said on Wednesday.

Vecdi Gonul said that he would travel to Israel next week to take part at the test flights of the UAVs that the Turkish military agreed with an Israeli defense industry company three years ago to buy.

"Ten Heron unmanned aerial vehicles, two of them by the end of November, will join the Turkish Armed Forces," Gonul told reporters.

Turkish military already uses UAVs that were procured from the U.S. and Israeli companies, as well as local production ones, Gonul said.

"UAVs have the ability to spot any slight movements on the ground," he added.
