An attack on a publishing house which printed Bibles yesterday in Malatya wound up in the deaths of three men who worked for Zirve Publishing, each of whom had their throats cut. 5 suspects were taken in for questioning; the 5, all of whom are young men studying in their first years of university, admitted going to the publishing house with knives in hand.

It was on a telephone tip to police yesterday that security forces arrived at the publishing house, where they were greeted by the sight of the three dead men. One of the suspects in the murder, Emre Gunaydin, saw police arriving and then jumped from the third floor window of the building where Zirve Publishing was located, and was seriously injured when he hit the ground below.

A statement from one of the suspects at the Malatya police bureau was as follows: "We didn't talk about who would do the murdering. We were all prepared. Our religion is escaping from us. Let this be a lesson to those who are enemies of our religion."

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made this comment about the events in Malatya yesterday: "We are deeply saddened that our country is the location for such an event. We will focus all our efforts on bringing to light every suspect in this case."
