Said Gul, "Of the 86 of our citizens kidnapped, 59 were set free. Currently, there are 24 of our citizens whose whereabouts and fates are not known, and who are being searched for by the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad. The Turkish Transportation Ministry is making payments of up to 40 thousand YTL to the families of Turkish truck drivers who have lost their lives in the chaos and terror of Iraq."

Gul presented parliament members with the example of driver Murat Yuce, who was kidnapped and killed 2 years ago in Iraq. He noted that subsequently, Yuce's wife was given a job in the Kecioren Municipality of Ankara, while the his children's school fees and needs were being taken care of by the government.
