ANKARA - Featuring theater, music and dance, the 26th Ankara Music Festival is coming April 4 to 30 and will once again be organized by the Sevda-Cenap and Music Foundation.

This year will be the "year of orchestras" at the festival. Hacettepe Symphonic Orchestra, Orchestra Academic Capital, Bilkent Symphonic Orchestra, Turkish Armed Forces Harmonica Orchestra, the Presidential Symphonic Orchestra, Ankara State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra will perform eight concerts.

Croatian HGM Jazz Orchestra and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality City Orchestra will perform other concerts. Conductors Erol Erdinç, Halil Aşık, Naci Özgüç and Ertuğ Korkmaz, cellist Benyamin Sönmez, pianists Hüseyin Sermet and Emre Şen and violinist Atilla Aldemir are among the Turkish artists who will be on stage.

Staged by Olcay Poyraz, "Mozart with You," brings together music and theater for those who are curious about theater and music productions’ backstage and rehearsals. "Oriental Way," which includes Leo Ferre songs and other events to be performed by conductor Kamran İnce, violinist Cihat Aşkın and MIAM New Music Group will be among the performances in the festival.

Harp and violin together

For the Chamber Orchestra concerts, Wiener Kammersymphonie and Prague Wind Instruments Quintet will meet the audience as part of the festival. A concert by Zlobko Vaigly on harp and Miron Kolbl on violin will be very interesting for those who like both instruments.

Another festival surprise is for classical guitar fans. The world’s popular classical guitar duo, Susana Prieto and Alexis Muzurakis, will take the stage.

There will also be a special event for the April 23 International Children’s Festival. Flutist Christian Plauvier, pianist Hakan Ali Toker, the Akyurt Kids Chorus and young talent Cem Anıl will entertain both children and families.

The festival will also feature Sheketak (rhythm/dance) and Kataklo (acrobatic dance) performances.
