A Turkish truck driver died from injuries sustained in an attack on a convoy near to Iraq's northern oil-rich city of Kirkuk, Friday, officials say. Khalid Hamid, who was from the southeast city of Diyarbakir, died of shrapnel wounds according to a statement made by police spokesman Omar Abdullah. Five others were injured in the attack and were taken to a hospital in the Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah. The convoy was carrying fuel from Kirkuk to the city of Arbil when they were attacked by Iraqi insurgents, who torched the tankers full of fuel, Thursday evening. Around 80 Turkish nationals, mostly truck drivers, have now been killed in road attacks or in hostage incidents, prompting Ankara to find a way of offering more security for Turks who continue to work in Iraq.Â
