A Turkish Airlines (THY) plane with 143 passengers landed Monday safely after it struck a flock of birds and damaged an engine.
The Airbus A321 aboard had just taken off Monday from Istanbul bound for Denmark when it struck the birds. The pilot successfully turned the plane around and landed it safely at the airport. Â
Passengers will be flown to Copenhagen aboard another plane, Turkish Airlines said after the incident in which nobody was hurt.
Earlier this month, the pilot of a U.S. Airways plane crash-landed in the Hudson River after hitting a flock of birds shortly after takeoff from New York's LaGuardia Airport. Nobody died in that landing.
