Koran nursery at the heart of Ankara

60 children around 5-6 year’s old are being educated by teachers wearing carsaf (black clothes covering the whole body) and headgear in the Nur Daily Nursery in Pursaklar of Ankara, which was founded upon the permission of the Social Services and Children Care Institution and the approval of the Ankara Governorship. Children are learning to read Koran before learning to read in Turkish.Nursery officials said that the children of everybody could not be registered but it was only possible to register children with reference letters. The nursery was inspected by inspectors for several times because it was not in compliance with the clothing regulations, but no legal proceeding was carried out. Â
