ISTANBUL - Future Shorts, the London-based short film festival, comes to Turkey for the first time this year as part of the 28th International Istanbul Film Festival that started this weekend. The festival will host 13 films from seven countries

The 28th International Istanbul Film Festival, which opened over the weekend, will host the world’s largest short film network, Future Shorts, at a party during which cinema and music will come together.

The night will open with a speech by actor Yiğit Özşener and present 13 dynamic and innovative short films from seven countries. The winner of the 2009 Nokia Nseries Short Film Competition will also be shown. The films will have Turkish subtitles. After the 100-minute film screenings, the night will continue with a Baba Zula concert.

For the first time this year in Turkey

The London-based short film brand Future Shorts comes to Turkey for the first time this year. The first screening of the festival will be tomorrow at 9 p.m. at Ghetto. The Istanbul fest is organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, or IKSV, with the sponsorship of Akbank, and will take place through Apr. 19. Future Shorts is a leading short film label. Since 2003, it has created a network that allows filmmakers the opportunity to have their work seen on large theatrical platforms worldwide. Believing in getting short films seen and creating a culture around the medium, Future Shorts is recognized by filmmakers, the industry and press as a cutting-edge short film label. It is a worldwide film festival as well as a distributor, sales agent, consultancy service and DVD label. Full ticket price for Future Shorts is 20 Turkish Liras and 15 liras for students.
