Tension over the caricature crisis has spilled over into Danish inner-politics, with a rift developing between Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller. Responding to accusations that he had never met with the ambassadors of 11 Muslim countries regarding their concerns about the caricatures, PM Rasmussen has begun to tell media members and others that FM Moller had met with these ambassadors.

Moller, in turn, has denied ever meeting with the group of 11 ambassadors, noting that his only contact with such a group was in November at the G-8 conference in Bahrein, when he met with 8 ambassadors, and not about the caricatures.

With disparate statements being made by the PM and the FM of Denmark, Danish political parties such as the Social Democrat Party, the Radikal Party, and the Union Party have begun to accuse Rasmussen of being a liar.Â
