ISTANBUL-Renowned Turkish theater artist Can Gürzap has opened his own theater called, "Theater Dialogue."
Gürzap, who has thought dialogue courses to many students for 18 years, will address more art lovers in his own theater under the motto "New Human New Theater."
Theater Dialogue is preparing to present audiences its first play, "Bana Bunu Yapma!" (Mixed Emotions). Can Gürzap, Nurseli İdiz, Atilla Pakdemir and Veysel Diker are all performing in the play that will be staged Jan. 9 at the Ankara Mamak Theater Festival.
Written by American screenwriter Richard Baer, the comedy play has been translated into Turkish by Zeynep Avcı and Yalın Karabey. The play is set around Christine Millman and Herman Lewis, a widow and widower in their sixites. Before the deaths of their spouses, the couples had been friends. She is in the process of moving to Florida, when Herman shows up on her doorstep and suggests that they should get married. As the movers take out her furniture, they relive old times and he tries to convince her to stay and be his wife.
Theater Dialogue will go on an Anatolian tour following Ankara. It will hold performances on Jan. 11-18, 25 and 30 in Istanbul's Caddebostan Culture Center; on Jan. 13 at the Antakya Cultur Center; on Jan. 14 at the Gaziantep Municipal Theater; on Jan. 15 at the Adana Municipal Theater; on Jan. 16 at the Mersin Culture Center; on Jan. 21 at the Bursa Tayyare Culture Center; on Jan 22 at the Kadıköy Public Education Center; and on Jan. 27 at the İzmit Süleyman Demirel Culture Center.
