A meeting of the High Electoral Board (YSK) yesterday moved to not postpone Sunday's upcoming referendum, which will place before voters questions such as whether or not the president of Turkey should be voted in directly by the citizens of the nation, whether or not elections should take place every four years, and what the quorum in criticial parliamentary elections should be.

Speaking after the YSK meeting, the head of the board, Muammer Aydin, noted that "We have decided that on Sunday, there will be a vote of the people." Turkish citizens go to the ballot boxes Sunday, October 21 to vote on the referendum, which is being referred to by some as a "small Constitutional packet."
