The World Health Organisation has sent a team of experts to Turkey to try and handle the outbreak of the deadly bird flu virus, which has up to now killed 3 children and sickened up to nine others. Initial findings said the WHO, is that the virus was contracted by handling the chickens. Initial information ``suggests that the children acquired their infections following close contact with chickens,'' Geneva-based WHO said.

The team from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the European Commission, WHO, arrived in Turkey on Thursday to help Turkish authorities conduct their investigations.

There are concerns by the authorities that the recent outbreaks among poultry, and the cases of human infections will increase chances of the virus mutating into a pandemic form that may kill millions of people.
