    WEF on Europe and Central Asia to be held in Turkey

    The first World Economic Forum (WEF) on Europe and Central Asia will be held in Istanbul between Oct. 30 - Nov. 1.

    The forum will be the first regional WEF meeting since the beginning of the global financial crisis which is currently affecting economies worldwide, officials said.

     

    The theme of the meeting was determined as "Confronting Challenges in Defining a Collaborative Future".

     

    The meeting will focus on five main areas which are "business opportunities stemming from the crisis", "geopolitical moves and rebuilding confidence in political cooperation", "energy and resources security", "Central Asia: redefining the framework of collaboration and its role in the world" and "Turkey and its leadership role in the region: bridging Europe, Asia and the Middle East".

     

    A total of 9 heads of state and government, 21 ministers and over 40 other public figures are expected to attend the meeting.
