    Wall Street pay checks start to rebound

    NEW YORK - Workers at the largest financial institutions are likely to earn as much money in 2009 as they did before the financial crisis because of strong bank profits this year, the New York Times reported.

    Six of the biggest banks have set aside $36 billion in the first quarter to pay workers, the paper reported, citing a review of financial statements. If that pace continues, money set aside for pay, mostly bonuses, will recover from last year’s lows, the paper said.
