Two PKK terrorists were killed in a clash with Turkish soldiers in southeastern Turkey, an official told AP on Wednesday. (UPDATED)

Irfan Balkanoglu, the governor of the southeastern Bingol province, said the clash occurred near the village of Dallitepe on Tuesday.

The army has stepped up operations against the PKK -- both inside Turkey and in northern Iraq -- since Oct. 3 when terrorists assaulted a Turkish border outpost near the border, killing 17 soldiers.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
