    Turkish terror board proposes new division in fight against the PKK

    A new division under the umbrella of the Interior Ministry will be created to coordinate activities in the fight against the PKK terrorist organization, a statement made to reporters after the meeting said late on Tuesday. (UPDATED)

    Turkey's Higher Board of Counter-Terrorism continued Tuesday its talks on measures in its fight against the terror organization, PKK.

    "All dimensions of the struggle with terror, including social-economic, foreign policy and legal respects, were handled, and evaluated comprehensively," the statement made after the meeting said.

    The board would continue meetngs, it added.

    The six-hour-long meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, followed last week's marathon meeting.

    A comprehensive road map, which would include all means from military to political, is expected to be drawn in these series of meetings that intensified after Turkey lost 22 people in terror attacks in less than a week.  

    Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Foreign Minister Ali Babacan, National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, Interior Minister Besir Atalay and Justice Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin attended Tuesday's meeting.

    The military wing was represented by General Staff Chief Gen. Ilker Basbug, Land Forces Commander Gen. Isik Kosaner, Gendarmerie Forces Commander Gen. Atila Isik and General Staff Deputy Chief Gen. Hasan Igsiz.

    Security Chief Oguz Kagan Koksal, National Intelligence Agency (MIT) Undersecretary Emre Taner, Prime Ministry Undersecretary Efkan Ala and several other officials also attended the meeting.
