    Turkish officials say no new market measures needed, steps taken

    Turkey's capital markets do not need extra new measures to protect from the global financial crisis, Capital Markets Board chairman Turan Erol told CNBC-e on Tuesday. The Turkish Prime Minister said the government is taking measures amid the turmoil. (UPDATED)

    Turkish stocks plunged nearly 9 percent and the lira currency hit its 13-month low against the dollar on Monday on risk aversion and fears of recession in the global economy.
