Dura is somewhat of an surrealist and his influences can be found in Bosch, Dali, Ernst and other contemporary artist like Peter Witkin.
Dura, originally from Adana, graduated with a BA in Economics and worked as photographer and director of photography at a Turkish advertising company for seven years, while also serving as a professor at Mimar Sinan University.
Fish is symbol that reappears throughout Dira's work. He presents the fish outside the usual safe underwater world that it knows and uses it as a metaphor for the suffering of modern, alienated, lonely human being.
