Turkey's Constitutional Court will start hearing the controversial headscarf case on June 5, according to the agenda published on its website.

The Turkish parliament passed the bill to amend the constitution to lift the headscarf ban in universities in February; a move that sparked concerns regarding the future of secularism and divided the public opinion. Turkey's leftist main opposition CHP later challenged the bill in the Court and demanded its annulment.

The case is being monitored closely as it is seen as a proxy in the closure case against the Islamist-rooted ruling AKP. The Court's decision in the closure case is expected to be delivered after the headscarf ruling.
