    Turkey's exports fall 32.8 percent to $8.1 billion in June - exporters

    ISTANBUL - Turkish exports fell 32.8 percent year-on-year in June to $8.12 billion, the Turkish Exporters Association (TIM) said on Wednesday.

    The TIM figures come almost a month before official data, which they tend to match.


    Exports in the key automotive sector dropped 36.9 percent in June to $1.56 billion, while the textile sector shrank 16.6 percent to $1.11 billion.


    In the first six months of the year, exports fell 34.5 percent from a year earlier to $43.87 billion.


    Official trade data on Tuesday showed exports fell 41 percent in May to $7.359 billion, while exports fell 43.9 percent.


    The extent of Turkey's economic slowdown in the early part of this year was illustrated on Tuesday by gross domestic product data which showed the economy shrinking 13.8 percent in the first quarter.
