Turkey is still trying to solve its energy crisis on natural gas, as harsh winter conditions continue across the country. A decrease in Iran's natural gas exports to Turkey was registered during the extreme subzero temperatures that the country experienced in late January. This decrease did not come at a good time for Turkey, as a reduction in Russian supplies was also registered this month, a result of the Ukraine-Russia gas dispute. Amid this energy debate, it has been discovered that Turkey is in fact paying one of the highest prices for Russian gas in Europe.

Private meetings with Putin were held over the matter to try and secure cheaper gas for Turkey, however, it is still clear that Turkey is paying high prices for gas.

The Iranian said that the decrease was due to technical problems on the Iranian side of the pipeline, however, the debate still continues as Turkey scrambles to secure enough energy to get through these severe winter months.
