    Turkey's announces $6.8 bln budget deficit for Sept

    Turkey's budget deficit for September realized around 9.4 billion YTL ($6.8 billion), recording 4.8 billion YTL ($3.4 billion) in January-September 2008, the country's Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday.

    The ministry statement also said that the nine-month primary surplus reached 36.5 billion YTL ($26.4 billion), a 19.4 percent rise compared to the same period of 2007. With this figure, Turkey has realized 96.1 percent of its year-end primary surplus target of 38.3 billion YTL ($27.7 billion).

     

    Turkey's budget deficit for Jan-Jun period, 4.8 billion YTL ($3.4 billion), declined 60.4 percent compared to the same term of the previous year's 12.1 billion YTL($8.7 billion).

     

    Budget revenues were also up 13.3 percent in the first nine months of 2008, climbing to 160.6 billion YTL ($113.3 billion ), revealing that Turkey has achieved 78.5 percent of the set revenue target of 204.5 billion YTL($147 billion).
