The new division, which is planned to be created under the Interior Ministry, would include a military wing and work as the undersecretariat of internal security, Hurriyet daily wrote on Wednesday. (UPDATED)

Turkey's Higher Board of Counter-Terrorism decided Tuesday to create a new division under the umbrella of the Interior Ministry, after a six hour-long meeting.

The new division would make strategic planning in the fight against the terror, lead intelligence sharing between security forces and frequently hold meetings, Hurriyet said.

The division, which is expected to be chaired by a high-level civilian bureaucrat, an undersecretary or a deputy undersecretary, would include high-level executives from the General Staff, gendarmerie, National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the police department.

The move signals a new period in the fight against the terrorist activities carried out in the country.

Turkey's Higher Board of Counter-Terrorism continue its talks on measures in its fight against the terror organization, PKK.

The board would continue meetings, a statement released after Tuesday's meeting said.

A comprehensive road map, which would include all means from military to political, is expected to be drawn in these series of meetings that intensified after Turkey lost 22 people in terror attacks in less than a week.
