    Turkey detains 10, including 4 army staff, over unearthed weapons

    ISTANBUL -Ten people were detained Wednesday in connection with a cache of unearthed weapons in an ongoing dig in Istanbul as part of the controversial Ergenekon investigation. (UPDATED)

    Four of the detained are serving military personnel, Turkish TV channels reported on Wednesday. (UPDATED)


    Authorities discovered grenades and rockets in Istanbul in an area reportedly used by the military, NTV and CNNTurk televisions reported citing police.


    Authorities were not immediately available for comment.


    More than 200 people have been charged as part of the Ergenekon case, launched in 2007, of forming an illegal organization to provoke a series of events that would pave the way to a military coup.
