Turkey’s military said Friday 35 PKK terrorists have been killed in recent clashes according to intercepted radio communication between the terrorists. (UPDATED)

General Metin Gurak, the head of the general staff's press department, said intercepted wireless communication between PKK terrorists during Tuesday's operation in the southeastern province of Sirnak spoke of up to 35 casualties.

Gurak, however, said the military could not confirm the PKK losses in the rugged mountainous area.

"As you can see the organization has suffered heavily. We are still sweeping the area. We do not have an official statement" on the losses, he said.

The communication was intercepted after Turkish artillery and gunship fire targeted two groups of PKK terrorists when they were moving towards a military outpost in the mountainous region, he said.

The intercepeted messages also suggested the terrorists might have shot dead fellow militants who were seriously wounded and could not move.

Turkey had intensified its military campaign to crackdown the PKK terror organization after it killed 17 soldiers in the bloody attack on Oct. 3 on a military post in the country's southeastern region.

Gurak also said the footage showing activities by PKK terrorists circulating in the media is fake.

Controversial Turkish daily, Taraf, had published the footage recorded and sent by unmanned aircraft to army headquarters showing PKK terrorists preparing for the attack on the military post in Aktutun. Turkey’s army chief General Ilker Basbug slammed Wednesday those media organs publishing alleged intelligence reports claiming the military were informed of the attack ahead of time.

Gurak said the terrorists shown in the footage were far from the military post in Aktutun, contrary to some media reports.

He added that the security forces seized on Oct. 14 a tapping document in an operation against terrorists who attempted to infiltrate Turkey from Besta region in the east of Mouth Cudi in the southeastern province of Sirnak.
