A rapporteur submitted Friday its report to the Constutional Court on the merits of the case filed for annulment of the bill to lift headscarf ban in universities.

The state-run Anatolian Agency reported the rapporteur, Osman Can, had submitted his report to the Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Hasim Kilic, and it was circulated among the members.

No details had been given on the details of the report.

According to the legal procedure, Kilic will set a date to see the case and deliver its ruling.

Turkish parliament passed the bill to amend the Constitution to lift the headscarf ban in universities in Feb, a move sparked secularism concerns and divided the public opinion. The leftist main opposition party CHP later challenged the bill in the Court and demanded its annulment.

Turkey's chief prosecutor included this move as a reason for his demand to have the ruling AKP closed in the indictment filed to the Constitutional Court.
