The Parliamentary Education Commission, which acted in line with the view, which was formed by Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan after his meeting with Chief of Joint Staff Hilmi Ozkok, postponed taking up the motion on vocational schools, which will pave the way for the Preachers' Schools (IHLs) to attend whichever faculty they like by changing the coefficients used in university entrance test.12 members of the commission vis-à-vis 9 accepted the offer of the Commission Chairman Tayyar Altikulac on the issue. Republican People's Party (CHP), which demands the motion to be withdrawn altogether, refused to give any member to the sub-commission, which will continue to tackle the motion. Forwarding this motion to a sub-commission granted time to the Commission to tackle the Higher Education Motion (YOK Motion) until the end of November. The combined motions are planned to be passed from Parliament until the year-end.During the discussions in the Commission, Education Minister Huseyin Celik said, “Approaching the problem of education ideologically is treachery to the country.” In response, Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy Zekeriya Akinci said, “There are 90 thousand mosques in this country but there are 600 thousand IHL graduates. If we remember that some people view these schools as their backyard, it will be understood who approaches to this issue ideologically,” and AKP deputy Mehmet Cicek responded by saying, “Why do mosques bother you this much?” These statements further escalated the tension in the Commission.
