    PM takes out lawsuit against citizen who held protest banner

    Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who often mentions the fact that he himself was once imprisoned for reading a controversial piece of poetry, has taken out a lawsuit against a Turkish citizen for a sign she held up during a ceremony. At a September, 2005 ceremony marking the opening of the Bahcesehir University academic year, Aynur Saydam held up a sign saying "You are the one who so wants the Armenian conference to happen, so whose Prime Minister are you?" during PM Erdogan's speech at the ceremony.

    The lawsuit which PM Erdogan has taken out against Saydam calls for 6 months to 2 years prison time for insulting the prime minister. The case will come before the Istanbul high court.
