Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, commenting on renewed effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, said "On the subject of Cyprus, we are ahead a pace. We would like to clear the path in front of Northern Cyprus." PM Erdogan's comments came at a meeting with members from the Turkey-EU Mixed Consultation Committee, at which he reiterated his support for the new 10 step plan put forward to the United Nations by Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul.

Prime Minister Erdogan leaves Turkey today for Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the World Economic Forum, where he is expected to meet with, among others, UN General Secretary Kofi Annan. Talks with Annan are expected to focus on the renewed Cyprus effort.
