    PKK thought to be collecting $100 million annually

    Turkey and the US have decided to move forward together with a plan to cut off the channels being used by the PKK to gather funds for its organizations and activities. In their first meetings in Ankara last week, Turkish and US experts determined that the PKK currently gathers around $100 million a year through various means. Cooperation between Turkey and the US will, according to diplomatic sources, include:
      PKK announces extension of its "period with no activity" until October 3

    *An organized inventory of the terror group and its holdings across various European countries.

     *Shared intelligence on the whereabouts and destinations of group members and their resources.

    *Closer attention to the activites of the PKK in relation to Kurds living in Europe. It is thought that the PKK collects somewhere in the range of $100 million every year through pressure put on these Kurdish-European citizens.

    *Closer attention to the specialized money transfer techniques used by the PKK. Rather than banks, the PKK prefers to used private couriers for transfers of money; Turkish and US forces will try to identify and stop these couriers.
