Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan got angry at films that depicted Turkey as a radical Islamic country. He called for the use of diplomatic and legal means to sue these films. He said "They must first apologize and tell us that they will not feature these one-sided stories."

Speaking at the AKP meeting party deputies voiced their disappointment and complained about a number of TV series that show Turkey as a radical Islamic country linked to Al Qaeda, where women are beheaded.

Deputy Ayse Bohurler recalled that the film Midnight Express, which showed Turkey as a country torturing people, was still widely available. Premier Erdogan said that the producers of this film had already apologized and promised not to air it any more. "They apologize on one hand but have continued to show them."
