Criticism over the new anti-terrorism law is slowing down the introduction of the new bill. The ruling Justice and Development Party Central Executive Board rejected the proposal for the law drafted by the Justice Ministry, finding it too harsh. The same objections were voiced against the military and security forces' suggestions.

The Cabinet is trying to find a middle road and is expected to amend the proposals in light of criticism and send it to Parliament next week.

It is known that the military and the police department want a harsher law on terrorism, while the AKP wants no retreat on newly found freedoms.
