Petkim, the Turkish petrochemicals giant, had 51% of its shares sold to the highet bidder yesterday for 2 billion 50 million dollars, to TransCentralAsia Petrochemical Holding. TransCentralAsia Petrochemical Holding is a Russian/Khazaki partnership group, though there is some speculation as to who else is behind the company.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Osman Ilter, the Deputy Head of the Privatization Board, said "There is no secrecy here. This group participated in the bidding after fulfilling criteria of sufficiency. The required information will be sent to the Competition Board."
