Former DEP MP Leyla Zana, in a speech made in Diyarbakir this week, said "This time we will reach out our hands towards peace. Do they want it or not? Let no one play with our honor or sensitivity. We are outstretching our hands for the last time.

If they don't accept, we will withdraw our hands." Zana was speaking at a Diyarbakir Istasyon Square meeting which was attended by many other largely Kurdish-backed Democratic Society (DTP) Party MPs, as well as Diyarbakir Mayor Osman Baydemir.  Speaking in Kurdish to the crowds in Diyarbakir, Zana also said "Your votes are for unity, your votes are your character. This is what I want from you. This time, we are outstretching our hands towards peace. We are outstretching our hands for the last time."
