Turkey, which is keeping close watch on developments in Iraq, will be hosting Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaferi in Ankara tomorrow. The visit was arranged through efforts by Turkey's Special Representative in Baghdad, Oguz Celikkol, who passed on a letter from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to President Jaferi.

Jaferi, who will be visiting Turkey for the second time in his capacity as Iraqi President, will be meeting with Prime Minister Erdogan as well asForeign Minister Abdullah Gul. It is also thought that other meetings with top level officials may take place, though preparations are still ongoing for Jaferi's visit.
It is expected that the focus of Turkish meetings with Jaferi will include the current situation in Iraq, especially the increasing violence, as well as ongoing efforts to set up a stabile government. Ankara is especially concerned with the growing level of sectarian violence in Iraq, and Prime Minister Erdogan has noted that following President Jaferi's visit to Ankara, his government would be expecting a visit from Shiite leader Muktaada Al Sadr.
