The leader of the Kurdish regional administration, Massoud Barzani, arrived in Tehran leading a high-profile delegation on an official visit to Iran, Iraqi Kurdish news agencies reported on Wednesday.

Barzani, who visited the neighboring country in response to an official invitation from the Iranian government, would meet high-level officials, including Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki.

Border security and regional developments are expected to be among the issues topping the agenda in the contacts between the Iraqi Kurdish leader and the Iranian officials.

The officials are also expected to discuss PEJAK, the terror organization PKK's breakaway faction in Iran.

Turkey and Iran have long been fighting against the terrorist movements operated by both the PEJAK and PKK, which is listed as a terrorist group by much of the international community including the U.S. and the EU.
