Iraq emptying out, crisis pushing at Turkey's doors

With the flow of refugees trying to escape violence and chaos in Iraq growing daily, Turkey is facing an even larger wave of Iraqis looking for a new life, as Syria's own capacity for taking in new citizens is being stretched to its limits.

Currently, the number of registered Iraqi refugees in Turkey looking to construct a new life is 4,355, while there are an estimated 1.5 million in Syria. But whether those who are currently in Syria will look towards Turkey for respite from the already crowded conditions in Syria is unclear, though it seems likely. Of the refugees already in Turkey, there are Shiite, Sunni, Christian, and Kurdish. If Syria, which is currently receiving an estimated 2,000 refugees a day from Iraq, decides to seal its borders to more of the human flow out of Iraq, the situation will heat up even more for Turkey.
