Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki told a Turkish delegation on Tuesday that Baghdad condemns the cross-border attacks by the terror organization, PKK, in Turkey.

Turkey's special envoy for Iraq, Murat Ozcelik, and Ahmet Davutoglu, foreign policy adviser to Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, met Iraqi officials in Baghdad, including Massoud Barzani, president of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region. This was the first meeting between Turkish officials and Barzani.

"Iraq is angered by the PKK's terrorist activities against (our) neighbor Turkey from Iraqi lands," a statement from Maliki's office quoted the prime minister as telling the Turkish delegation, Reuters reported.

Turkey had intensified its military campaign to crackdown the PKK terror organization after it killed 17 soldiers in the bloodiest attack over a year to a military post in the country's southeastern region.

On the diplomacy front, Turkey increased its contacts with the regional Kurdish administration in northern Iraq to press them to take the necessary steps against the PKK such as cutting the organization's logistic support.
