Sometimes it does happen that great pain can spark enlightenment in societies.

We experienced this with the Marmara earthquake.
After the deaths of 13 soldiers in Sirnak, DTP group MP leader Selahattin Demirtas made a statement which I interpret as sort of an enlightement on his part.

Demirtas' statement marked the first time that a DTP MP called fallen Turkish soldiers "martyrs" and "our sons."
As someone who has many time criticized the shadow of the PKK that hangs over the DTP, I must say that this statement underscored hope for the future.
It is clear that allowing the DTP some time to get themselves together will bring about even more ringing out of that faction's voices of reason.
If we really desire the lessening of this pain, we need to support these moves by the DTP.
Let's just say that this great pain is an opportunity for everyone to gather their wits.
