The Diyarbakir based Human Rights Association (İHD) issued a statement on Wednesday calling on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers's Party (PKK) to release the kidnapped soldier immediately and unconditionally. "Kidnapping is unacceptable. We do not approve of such acts that are against human rights and the law," said Diyarbakır head Selahattin Demirtaş.

The terrorists stopped the police officer's car at a roadblock late on Sunday night as he was traveling from Diyarbakir to Sirnak. Police officer Erol Acil was then grabbed and puled from his car at a makeshift roadblock near the small village of Magara. Officer Acil was traveling with his fiance at the time of the kidnapping but was not taken from the car, said an official.

The kidnapping is similar to an incident that took place earlier this year in July, when the PKK kidnapped a soldier at a roadblock in southeast Turkey. The soldier was help for three weeks and then released unharmed.
