ADANA - Charlotte Handy, the wife of Hamish Cooper, New Zealand’s ambassador in Ankara, has learned the historic Turkish art of "ebru" in Adana.

Joining students at the Adana Education Institute, Handy learned how to perform ebru, the Turkish name for paper marbling, and described the experience as fantastic.

Originally a painter, this was the first time Handy had seen an ebru and tried to create one after being given a brief introduction. "I have never seen anything like this in any country," said Handy. "This is fantastic."

She was later given a scarf made by ebru technique as a gift. She also watched a presentation of Ottoman clothes presented by students of the institute.
