12 immigrants dead in boat accident
At least 12 people are known to have died when a boat carrying would-be immigrants sank off Turkey’s west coast while trying to reach neighboring Greece, authorities said yesterday. Two more bodies have been found since the sinking on Wednesday, and authorities warned the death toll may yet rise.

A cargo ship belonging to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), sank off northern Turkey on Friday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported. The cargo ship named "Melissa" was en route from Russia to Turkish metropolis of Istanbul, said the report, adding the ship was found half-sunken in the middle of the sea off Sinop province. Eight crew members were rescued and brought to Sinop.

No one was killed but 1 wagon was toppled over and 6 wagons derailed in yesterday's remote controlled bombing of a Turkish train headed from Erzincan to Erzurum. The train, carrying metal and grain, had 6 personnel on it, none of whom were hurt in the incident. Authorities suspect that the bomb, found on the rails of the track, was in fact intended for the "Eastern Express," a more crowded passenger train that goes from Istanbul's Haydarpasha Station to Kars. As a result of a 50 minute delay in the Eastern Express, the cargo train which was hit was on the rails when normally the Eastern Express would have been passing through.
Handcuffs at Incirlik: Tension between US and Turkish forces at the base a reality
The secrecy surrounding 10 minutes of high tension between US and Turkish soldiers on the Incirlik Base in Adana has been lifted by Hurriyet sources. A US authority speaking to Hurriyet sources has said that an emergency landing made by a US C-17 airplane caused enough disagreement between US and Turkish soldiers present that a US soldier was even handcuffed at the base by a Turkish counterpart. Though the Turkish General Staff confirms that a C-17 did in fact land without permission at the base, they deny the handcuff incident.

Turkey and US come to an agreement on Incirlik use
The US government announced its recently reached agreement with Turkey over wider logistical use of the base at Incirlik in a one page declaration yesterday. Significantly, the agreement specificies that the US will respect the final authority of Turkey in decisions regarding the base, and that US forces will not use the base for any action in either Syria or Iran.
