Women Are Solely Cosmetics in AKP

Minister Reyhan Balandi attended the general assembly of parliament for the first time since resigning from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) because of rumors that were fabricated about herself.Sitting in the section of independent deputies, Balandi said, “The experiences I had while in the party demonstrated just how AKP views women. You can only speak or appear wherever they permit it. You cannot be present other than that. Women are treated purley as cosmetics in this party and have no real strength or power.” Balandi added that there will be other deputies of the same opinion deserting the party but also stated quite clearly, “it is not easy to leave the ruling party.”�
