Cuneyt Zapsu, an advisor to Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said, ''we will overcome every problem regarding Turkey's EU membership.'' Zapsu delivered a speech at a meeting on Turkey's progress in EU entry talks, which was held by European Turkish Democrats Union on Wednesday.

Zapsu said, ''EU brings on table several issues like Cyprus problem, so-called Armenian genocide, Kurds and Allewites.'' He criticized that those issues were brought onto agenda in a period which Turkey had started to record progress.

Zapsu noted, ''Turkey received a date for beginning of EU entry talks. Alternatives like privileged partnership and initiatives aiming to prevent Turkey's membership remained in the past. We should now look to the future developments.''

''Turkey pursues adjustment activities within itself. We exert efforts to implement reform laws. However, it will take time. Turkey-EU negotiations will be held on March 7th, and entry talks will start on October 3rd,'' he said.

Meanwhile, German Social Democrat Party deputy Rolf Mutzenich said in his speech, ''there are many things which Turkey should fulfill for EU membership. Separation of religious and state affairs, decreasing influence of Turkish Armed Forces, development of independence of justice, removal of existing problems with Greece and also Cyprus
problem are among these things to be fulfilled.''

Meanwhile, Christian Democrat Union Party deputy Wolfgang Bosbach defended that the most appropriate model for Turkey is privileged partnership.
