The prime ministers of Ukraine and Georgia said that the direction of oil flow would be reversed for the Odessa-Brody pipeline that runs between Russia and Ukraine. The Ukraine's key pipeline, was originally going to be used for pumping oil from Russia to Odessa, but will now be used for oil shipments from Kazakhastan and Azerbajan through Georgia to Western European markets.

Ukraine already heavily dependent on Russian oil, opened the pipeline originally for the purpose of oil shipments from Russian to Ukraine.

The U.S. opposed the move last summer, backing Turkey's sentiment that there is too much traffic on the Bosphorus, after a possible rise in traffic between Odessa and Western Europe prompted fears of oils spills on the already crowded strait.
