Turkish art photographer Saygun Dura will show his work at the Marmara-Manhattan gallery in a New York on September 15 to October 30. It is the first time the artist's work will appear in New York and on the Manhattan art scene. The show is called "My reflected reality" and features dream like compositions in which lighting and detail is carefully attended to.Dura is somewhat of an surrealist and his influences can be found in Bosch, Dali, Ernst and other contemporary artist like Peter Witkin. Dura, originally from Adana, graduated with a BA in Economics and worked as photographer and director of photography at a Turkish advertising company for seven years, while also serving as a professor at Mimar Sinan University. Fish is symbol that reappears throughout Dira's work. He presents the fish outside the usual safe underwater world that it knows and uses it as a metaphor for the suffering of modern, alienated, lonely human being.
